About Soroptimist

International

Founded in 1921, Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement with a network of around 72,000 club members in 121 countries. Our membership work on grassroots projects that help women and girls achieve their individual and collective potential, advocating for human rights and gender equality. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best.

Federation

We are part of Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA), one of the four geographic federations that make up Soroptimist International. SIA also sponsors Live Your Dream.Org , an online community empowering volunteer action. I will live MY dream!

Regions

We are part of Soroptimist International Founder Region . Founder Region is so named because the first Soroptimist club met and was chartered in Oakland, California in 1921.

Districts

Founder Region consists of five districts and we belong to District I. This district has eleven clubs.

Clubs

Soroptimist members belong to local clubs, which focus on volunteer work for their communities. Club projects range from renovating domestic violence shelters and providing mammograms to low-income women, to sponsoring self-esteem workshops for teenage girls.
