Soroptimist Projects

Soroptimist International of 24-680 participates in and funds projects on the international, region, district and club levels:

  • Project Independence-Women survivors of War: Soroptimist partnered with Women for Women International to help women in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Rwanda learn a marketable skill to support their families.
  • Women's Opportunity Award: An award for single women/head of household enrolled in a higher education or training program to improve her skills for employmet.
  • Violet Richardson Award: This award recognizes young women for thier volunteer service in the community.
  • Founder Region Fellowship is the permanent identifying project of our region. This year $50,000 was awarded among six women in the last year of their doctoral studies.
  • Get Real Academy: This life skills day for high school senior girls was developed by the eight clubs that make up District II. This program, now in its seventh year, includes seminars on money managment, health issues, mock interviews, and other life skills.
  • Day of Service: Another opportunity for Soroptimist International members to serve the community. We have been visiting residents of a local senior apartment complex and sharing time and fellowship with them.
